The Opera Garnier is a true symbol of Paris. Inaugurated in 1875, this Second Empire-style building was built to highlight the power of Napoleon III.
Do you want to know what hides behind that facade full of beauty? With the ticket to the Opera Garnier, you'll be able to explore the different rooms of the theatre at your leisure. You'll have the chance to go up the Grand Staircase, visit the famous "Rotonde des abonnés", the stalls, the Salon de la Monde et du Soleil and the Bibliothèque-Museum de l'Opéra.
If you're a fan of The Phantom of the Opera, you'll be pleased to know that Gaston Leroux's novel takes place entirely in the Palais Garnier. That's why inside it there's uncertainty as to whether or not you can hear the ghost's footsteps in the silence. Maybe you'll pass him in the corridors - who knows!
Plus, you'll also admire the striking "foyers", lobbies decorated with gold leaf and precious mosaics in which the spectators strolled between acts. Did you know that it's considered to be one of the largest opera houses in Europe? You're going to love it!
To top it all off, your ticket will also give you access to the temporary exhibitions organised at the Opera Garnier. What more could you ask for?
It's very centrally located, so you won't have any problems getting there. The Opera Garnier is located on the corner of Scribe and Auber streets, on Pl. de l'Opéra. You can get there by the following means of transport:
Citizens of the EEA (European Economic Area) can benefit from reduced-price admission. The EEA consists of 30 countries: the 27 European Union countries plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, and Norway.
Children under 12 have free admission, and students aged 12 to 25, family tickets, and other discounts linked to promotions or cards qualify for reduced prices.
To obtain these tickets, you must buy them on the official website of Opera Garnier.
The Palais de l'Opéra Garnier is open from 10 am to 4 pm (10 am to 5 pm from mid-July to the end of August), except for exceptional closures. The monument closes one hour later.
You can enter a maximum of half an hour after your booked time.
Due to the nature of theatrical activities, the auditorium is often inaccessible to visitors. Additionally, on rare occasions, other areas of the tour may also be closed.
