Head into the Atlas Mountains on this Three Valleys day trip from Marrakech. Camel rides, waterfall hikes, and visits to Berber villages are waiting for you. Breakfast and lunch included!
Day Trip Details
At the designated time, we'll pick you up from your hotel, riad, or apartment in Marrakech, leaving the hustle and bustle of the city behind as we head into the heart of the Atlas Mountains.
Our first stop is Lalla Takerkoust, a peaceful mountain lake surrounded by spectacular scenery. Those who'd like can enjoy a traditional camel ride while taking in the views before we relax with a fresh mint tea in a Berber tent.
We'll continue on to the village of Azro, near Tahanaout, where we'll visit a local argan oil cooperative. There, we'll enjoy a light traditional breakfast of fresh bread, honey, olive oil, amlou, and mint tea while learning how local products are made and about the work of the women who run the cooperative.
Afterward, we'll have the chance to explore a traditional weekly Amazigh market, which varies depending on the day; on Tuesdays in Tahanaout, Fridays in Tamslouht, Saturdays in Asni, and Sundays in Lalla Takerkoust. It's the perfect setting to see everyday mountain life, local crafts, and culture up close.
Next, we'll venture deeper into the Atlas, passing through valleys and traditional villages as your guide shares stories about local farming, traditions, and life in the mountains. For those who'd like to walk, we'll take an optional hike to the waterfalls, where you can enjoy beautiful panoramic views, relax by the water, or take a refreshing dip, depending on conditions on the day.
After the hike, we'll enjoy one of the most special moments of the trip: a visit to a local family's home for a fully homemade Moroccan lunch, prepared by the women of the family using traditional recipes passed down through generations. We'll sit down together to enjoy tagines, couscous, Moroccan salads, seasonal dishes, and fresh mint tea, a unique chance to experience authentic Berber hospitality.
Finally, we'll say goodbye to the family and head back to Marrakech, arriving after a 10-hour day trip.
